Parkersberg High School Senior Taylor

As I said in my last blog I have had the joy and privelege of working with Andi Roberts photographing Senior High School Girls for their Senior Portraits. Today I am sharing A couple of Taylor’s images with you. Taylor was so much fun to shoot. We did her session at her Uncle’s Farm out near Elizabeth, WV . What a beautiful place for portraits. The day started off rainy and we were not sure we would be able to take her pictures, and then miraculously the rain ceased and we ended up with perfect shooting conditions. Taylor looked ever so beautiful, this young woman is talented, bright and a true beauty. It was such a joy working with her.

Honing my skills

Sometimes it feels like I am taking an excelerated course in photography and digital editing. I spend countless hours studying new lighting techniques, photoshop techiniques and then there is the business end of it. I feel blessed to have all this information at my disposal. I really do think my skills are improving and the quality of my work gets better every day although I am nowhere near where I would like to be.

Since July Andi and I have begun working together on the Senior Portrait end of our business. I love it. And though I had never seen myself as a “Portrait” Photographer I am so enjoying working with these teens and honing my skills. I have had the honor and privledge of working with my life partner and my business partner in a way that strengthens us and our business. That being said. I do sometimes miss my art and shooting just for me, so perhaps this winter I shoot more models and work on my project a bit more. But in the meantime I will keep stretching and honing my skills.

I love working with the Senior Girls and the True Beauty project is so very close to my heart. Our Models are such wonderful young women who are at that pivotal place in their lives. They are getting ready to embark in the world of adulthood and it is a joy to see them progress and to be able to capture these last images of their school age. I am honored to be doing this work.

Andi and I committed awhile back to not doing sneak peeks of our work, so today I am only posting images from the modeling session and one of the girl’s photoshoot.  I may post more down the road.

Events

October continues to be a busy month for us. We shot an amazing and fun event at the Blennerhassett. This was a great experience for me as I am not typically and event photographer and I got to really stretch my skill set in shooting this wonderful Launch Party.

Much going on here at the studio, check out my next blog post for information on the Halloween party and various mini-sessions we are offering.

For now, just wanted to check back in. Life is settling in as we do getting ready for winter. I do hope to be able to devote more time now to my blog.
